Having said that, employers do expect their employees to have them since there is no time for handholding and mentoring. Meet Samyak Chakrabarty and Gaurav Jainm, co-founders of X Billion Skills Lab, determined to get graduates future-ready with soft skills under the ‘smart generalist’ program. In simple terms, a smart generalist is someone who is not constrained by their technical expertise and can function in areas such as communication, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, decision making, and others.
The founders break down the term ‘smart’ into five components — storyteller, multitasker, analytical mind, risk-taker, and thinking creatively. They have curated a 21st-century workplace skills course for college students and aspiring entry-level job seekers.
